no water should come out when the system is running - ever.
your pump probably wont need to be adjusted reason being if ur system has
worked properly for many years with it at the same setting & no one has
altered it. it must be a fault elsewhere.

Because you have the boiler turned up high and only one rad,

the pump for the heating circuit is pumping the water up the expansion

have seen this happen.

upstairs,, you have a blocked cold feed.

if you have a section of pipework should be cut out and replaced, (where
the cold feed tees into the open vent)
a power flush would be a good idea as well.

water shouldn't collect in the expansion tank nor discharge

If the expansion tank had too much water in it when it was cool

then as the system heated the volume expands & excess water will overflow

it will eventually overflow all the time. Alternatively the expansion tank
is too small & cannot cope with the thermal expansion within ur system .
Does it overflow when cold? Hvae you tried going from hot to cold & back
to hot & is it still overflowing?

No, I think when that happens it has to be replaced.

it all depends where the plumber directed the over flow, but
AngelStar
yes. You would not want this water flow into your cold water tank. It have
